Jenny Dawes - Artist

Jenny Dawes was born an artist, studying and painting from a very early age and painting full time since 1976.

Jenny has lived, worked and exhibited in Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria as well as traveling to America and Europe to work and gather subject matter, giving her work an extraordinary depth and special quality.

Inspiration

"I am inspired by the Australian Bushland, it's rivers and buildings. I spent my childhood on sugar farms in Queensland and this has led me to paint on location as it enables me to capture the atmosphere and feeling of the subject. Suburban rooftops motivate me to paint them, as the patterns of colour against the landscape are magnificent. Still life is an interesting subject. I also enjoy painting modern works, as they give a freedom of expression."

Influence

"I am influenced by the Australian Heidelberg School and the French Impressionists."

Exposure

Jenny has held solo exhibitions, exhibited in mixed exhibitions, and has participated as judge for various art shows. She has received numerous art awards and was represented in Australian Art magazine in 1998. Her paintings are featured in private and corporate collections in Australia and around the world.

Jenny has completed an IARC Accredited Certificate Course in Interior Design and Decoration and is available for consultations on the aesthetics of purchasing and placing art works for the home or office.

Jenny Dawes currently operates the Dawes & Offord Art Gallery at Hartley in The Blue Mountains.
